Airborne drones capable of carrying people will be used as a replacement for traditional taxi services, transporting passengers across urban areas without contributing to congestion on the roads.
Ground-based drones provide a potentially safer and more efficient alternative to manned automobiles. Technology is in development that will allow drones to coexist (and ultimately replace) human drivers on the road.
Beyond single-environment ground or air-based vehicles, hybrid drones present an opportunity to merge the two applications, with a modular vehicle that can swap between a rotor mechanism for airborne propulsion, and a wheel assembly for ground transport, allowing passengers quick, easy travel from place to place without ever having to swap vehicles.
